Comments :
This is the only cable stay bridge in Britain. It had to withstand winds of up to 99 mph, a tide race of 8 mph in water 13 yards deep, and even possible seismic tremors since Inverness is on a fault line spasmodically active. It was built to a German design (Helmut Homberg) and cost more than £ 33 million. The Rhine-Bridge Rees-Kalkar near Duesseldorf was the model. [1, 2]
